At the invitation of master woodturner Ted Knight, I was given the unique opportunity to witness a historic gathering of artists in the days leading up to the Audacious exhibit at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. The exhibit ran from February 21 to June 21, 2015, and featured works from the most prominent wood artists of our time. The breadth of style, technique, and aesthetic creativity that was on display left no doubt whether these exquisite designs in wood have earned their place in the world of high art.
Touring the exhibit in the company of such extraordinary artists made for some unforgettable moments. Having sit-down conversations with inspired individuals like Brad Sells, Hal Metlitzky, Donald Derry, Terry Evans, was the ultimate reward at the end of a trip across the continent. Along the way, views of snowy mountaintops, rainbow clouds, iconic bridges, and New England winter storms all contributed to a superlative experience and took it into the realm of the magical.

Fine art goes far beyond museum displays. It is a way of life.
